(He Who Wins The Race) Post for Day 137 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

Slow down and enjoy life. It’s not only the scenery you miss by going to fast – you also miss the sense of where you are going and why.

Eddie Cantor

He who wins the race is he who stopped to grow the roses.

Life is short and with each generation it seems to be speeding up. To those that are swift for results for their pleasure, life is a constant state of misery that tries to mask the void within with superficial empty things. Nothing cannot fill nothing. You cannot fill this hole by feeding it. The most beautiful things were not always so. They took time to become wonders. Only something you are a part of making grow can fill the hole within. Only time, nurturing, love and dedication can create the lasting connections that lattice over and heal the emptiness. All else is a glimpse at all the things you moved too fast to see their true worth and will never have. Time is not the enemy. Only time wasted without purpose is the thief that robs you of your greatest joys. Slow down, breath and be a part of something you love or life will leave you in the dust.

Genesis 33:

12 Then Esau said, “Let us take our journey; let us go, and I will go before you.”

13 But Jacob said to him, “My lord knows that the children are weak, and the flocks and herds which are nursing are with me. And if the men should drive them hard one day, all the flock will die.

14 Please let my lord go on ahead before his servant. I will lead on slowly at a pace which the livestock that go before me, and the children, are able to endure, until I come to my lord in Seir.”

(The Ways Of The Foolish?) Post for Day 136 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a fool can learn from a wise answer.

Bruce Lee

I’m not always sure what goes through people’s minds… Nor am I sure I want to. But then who is the bigger fool, the time bomb bike or the man who just parked next to it and then stopped to take a picture and blog about it? Hmm…

Psalms 94:8 Understand, you senseless among the people; And you fools, when will you be wise?

(Dinosaur Footprints) Post for Day 135 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

What you do on a dinosaur expedition is you hike and look at the ground. You find bones sticking out of the dirt and, once you see something, you dig.

Nathan Myhrvold

I somehow find comfort in knowing that I was not always amongst the biggest to walk around this earth upon two feet. :)

Job 40:

15 ” Look now at the behemoth, which I made along with you; He eats grass like an ox.

16 See now, his strength is in his hips, And his power is in his stomach muscles.

17 He moves his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are tightly knit.

18 His bones are like beams of bronze, His ribs like bars of iron.

19 He is the first of the ways of God; Only He who made him can bring near His sword.

20 Surely the mountains yield food for him, And all the beasts of the field play there.

21 He lies under the lotus trees, In a covert of reeds and marsh.

22 The lotus trees cover him with their shade; The willows by the brook surround him.

23 Indeed the river may rage, Yet he is not disturbed; He is confident, though the Jordan gushes into his mouth,

24 Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare.

(God’s Rainbow) Post for Day 134 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.

Pedro Calderon de la Barca

Long ago God put a bow in the clouds and hidden in the colors of the rainbow is a sacred promise to humanity that has nothing to do with recent events.

Genesis 9

13 I set My rainbow in the cloud, and it shall be for the sign of the covenant between Me and the earth.

14 It shall be, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the rainbow shall be seen in the cloud;

16 The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

Ezekiel 1

28 Like the appearance of a rainbow in a cloud on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the brightness all around it. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. So when I saw it, I fell on my face, and I heard a voice of One speaking.

Revelation 4

3 And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, in appearance like an emerald.

Revelation 10

1 I saw still another mighty angel coming down from heaven, clothed with a cloud. And a rainbow was on his head, his face was like the sun, and his feet like pillars of fire.

(Make The Greatest Part of Life Sweet) Post for Day 133 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts will be written the history of this generation.

Robert Kennedy

In the measure of your life, make the greatest part of it filled with the sweetness of love and understanding.

Lamentations 3:24 ” The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, ” Therefore I hope in Him!”

(The Great Mistake Of Christian Vanity ) Post for Day 132 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

Real firmness is good for anything; strut is good for nothing.

Alexander Hamilton

The great mistake of Christian vanity is that of those that feel they are better than beast but are in fact no better themselves. Most do not realize that we are not created in God’s image from birth and have to be molded through their trials and trust to gain that image of the Creator that made them (Gen 2:4-9 Man was made before the 3rd day trees and was not made in God’s image as declared on day 6, as all is a step process of developing Christ within). It is only through understanding that forms us into a creation of purpose. The physical flesh is only dust that has been repurposed and shaped into a man shaped vessel of motion, made for action, but it is the “Man” of God that finds his true self via the truth imbued into all of creation. We start as the golem, a beast of clay or earth with the ability to move like a man, but you are never truly a “Man” until you can rise above your baser animal self. Until you learn to be a student of truth you are simply an animal or beast without true reasoning seeking constantly to fulfil your own selfish hungers and desires.

Consider these truths and read Ecclesiastes 3:21 and see that only a “Man” is him that rises up in his understanding and all else is that that returns to the dust without understanding like the golem of clay that is imbued with motion but yet is not truly “alive” because he does not grow in the light of reasoning and is one that is “dead” to the truth of spirit.

Ecclesiastes 3:

18 I said in my heart, “Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.”

19 For what happens to the sons of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity.

20 All go to one place: all are from the dust, and all return to dust.

21 Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?

(All Things Truly Wicked Start From Innocence) Post for Day 131 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

All things truly wicked start from innocence.

Ernest Hemingway

This is the essence of the Garden of Eden. It is in becoming aware of your nakedness that leads to the death of your joy in the spirit.

(How Sweet It Is) Post for Day 130 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

Life is short, and it is up to you to make it sweet.

Sarah Louise Delany

How sweet it is to be loved by you Lord, even in a life as short as this. :)

1 Corinthians 15:52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

(RUN! RUN! RUN!) Post for Day 129 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

The devil has put a penalty on all things we enjoy in life. Either we suffer in health or we suffer in soul or we get fat.

Albert Einstein

We live in a world of excess but few are willing to pay the price. So we make up more ways of creating ease and then complain when the world does not please us or give us the comfort we desire. Nothing worth having ever comes easy, and no one said being a Christian makes you exempt from the troubles of the world. Remember God sends His rain and sunshine alike down upon the sinners and the saints. The only difference is we have hope and joy for a better and brighter tomorrow, be it in this life or the next.

Being Christian does not make you better than anyone. It only makes you more aware of the choices you make and the consequences of your actions. So we don’t choose the easy road of excess or complain when life gives us lemons. We simply thank God for the lessons learned and the means to beat our bodies, celestial and terrestrial, into shape and strive for the prize of promise called salvation.

So run without tiring and never look back… Run from the devil and run towards the prize, but most of all… Just run!

1 Corinthians 9

24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.

25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

(Love Your Enemies) Post for Day 128 of my “365 Day Photo Challenge”

All the world is birthday cake, so take a piece, but not too much.

George Harrison

I have noticed that as I age my tolerance has been eaten away and sometimes that’s a slice of life that’s hard to swallow… but yet I think a part of me likes it.

I guess I need a little more prayer to handle those less than pleasant people. *Sigh*

Matthew 5:38-48

38 “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’

39 But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.

40 If anyone wants to sue you and take away your tunic, let him have your cloak also.

41 And whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two.

42 Give to him who asks you, and from him who wants to borrow from you do not turn away.

43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’

44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so?

48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
