Growing Fruit in the Colors of Love

Matthew 13: The Parable of the Sower

1 On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. 2 And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

3 Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow. 4 And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. 5 Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. 6 But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. 7 And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. 8 But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. 9 He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

What if your whole life was a lie told to blind you to the truth, and the only way to uncover the true mystery was to seek the answers beneath the surface of what you think you know?

You are made of two truths reflected in a mirror. The world in which you live in, and the one you only think you do. But which is which? Which one is most real? The world you feel small and helpless or the one you know you are but trying to hide it. The human spirit is a very fragile thing that is constantly hiding like a small animal from would be larger predators. We are often cowards under rocks pretending to be brave to fool the demons that haunt us, but we are only fooling ourselves. The true mystery of life is hidden in a shroud of our own perceptions. Some think that by being great outwardly they can overcome their demons through strength and dominance, but often that is only overcompensation for the small child that’s cowering under the bed from the ghost of their past, and they brings forth nothing useful to eat but their misguided pride and lies. And then there are those that pretend to have it all figured out but are only guessing like the rest of us and desperately want to have answers. They may rise up for a while to drink of the sweet nectar of truth but shrink away when they are needed most for fear of making the wrong choices. There fruits are bitter though they drank from the sweet. There are those that love to be seen and admired for the things they know and can do, and all they want is to be followed for their greatness of skills, but they too make the safe choices rather than lead with courage through the fires that test their life, and their fruits wither in the mouth when consumed. Families and friends need conviction, consistency and integrity as a role model, not passiveness and shallow self-doubt. Where oh where are the seed that fell on fertile ground?

Matthew 13:18
“Therefore hear the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. 20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles. 22 Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. 23 But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Turning Grey

Where are the martyrs of old that mattered, whose sacrifices make change and light the fires of true desire? Where are the kings and conquers who rule through love and compassion, courageously overcoming the kingdoms of weakness and fear? Where are the lovers without reason, only giving because it is in them to love? These are the people of splendid color the world needs as all things are turning to shades of grey. No highs or low that matter seems to exist in the world today. We champion all the wrong things and make big deals of the little insignificant ones. We feel the pains of others and make them our own like that makes a single bit of difference to the issue at hand, when all that is really need is sympathy and support from a firm and uplifting hand. We sap our strength and blind our mission by becoming too emotionally involved. Worries are infectious things and cause more sickness when healings involved. We stick our noses in other people’s business when we know it does not belong. The trials of others are often that, you are only tagging along.

The world is at war and it is not the one on the television I mean. It is a war against the greyness that is creeping into everything. Where is the light of the righteous fire in your eyes? Where is the truth burning away the lies? Rise up my good brothers and sisters. Rise up from the shadow of death. The valley in which you are marching is only a pit of despair and regret.

Look at your life with new eyes. Look at the temples you built and the altars you sacrifice on. Your obedient lambs of time and innocence are all sacrificed and burned away in vain. What do you give yourself over to? Is it made in majesty and fully formed in love? Who is it you call master? The one of earth or the one of heaven above? So ask yourself why do you seek salvation? To please God or to please yourself?

If you came here seeking happiness then you have completely missed the point. Joy is not the mission but only a pleasurable side effect of God’s love. You do not go to church to find joy. If you do, the true joy of God’s truth will forever elude you. Joy will find you only when you’re ready. To seek pleasure is to find disillusionment. To seek truth is to find peace. It is only through the healing effects of understanding do we learn to calm the storms of the soul, but you cannot calm your spirit’s waters if you are awash on a restless sea of emotional fear and doubt. The truth you seek is unyielding, unchanging and eternal. It is the harbor that shelters you through any storm.

Reflecting Waters

In the Bible water represents both spirit and truth. Worldly truth is often insubstantial but it feels as real as the world around you, but everything you think you know is a construct of unsubstantial things. Your thoughts, dreams, hopes and schemes are all made of things that do not exist. They are like a living mass that shifts and changes with your feelings, and like water or sand you are incapable of building your life upon them. They are illusions conjured up to mask you from the fear that surrounds you. Fear comes in many shades to blind you to its crippling nature. Fear is the constrictor swallowing your future. Fear is the ghoulish grey shade that hides from God’s revealing light and rules you from the shadows whispering gentle images of greatness. When seeking great riches you are establishing a world of your own making & riches are only the vain lies of worldly eyes seeking validation.

What is it then that you seek? What is it that you want to be your legacy you’ll be remembered for? Is it to whimper and wallow in self-flagellation, or to go out with your head held high and marveling at the glorious times gone by?

I choose to not wallow in self-regret or be reminded of times of cowardice. I choose to march forward with head held high knowing that all choices were more than an alibi. I choose to shed the pride and fear. I choose to be remembered for appropriately shedding a tear. I chose to be alive with purpose and live for my God sometimes unnoticed. The tiger of my heart no longer slumbers. With fire in his eyes like living embers that pierce the night and light the world on fire, burning away ignorance and fear. Light the world with the true colors of love and awaken the victory of the courageous spirit… rise up in truth. Rise up in love. RISE UP IN COURAGE!

Genesis 9:16
The rainbow shall be in the cloud, and I will look on it to remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.”

Rainbows were the covenant of God’s love long before they were stolen by a world looking only to fade His colors to grey. It’s time to let your heart glow in the full spectrum of His love and stop living in the many empty shades of grey!

    1. It is the only present truth in Christ that can bring about through happiness!
Happiness is mundane, joy is eternal. You have indeed given the panacea that will bring healing of the mind!
