THANK YOU!

Yes, this is my artwork, and this is a Shameless Self-Promotion

www.dan-lyons.com

Living stone :-)

Good news!
I am healed enough to go back to work!

After 22 years in the video game industry, I now can no longer get a job with my felony record, or I am “Over-Qualified”

So, I take odd jobs to try to get this ministry off the ground.

God has gifted me in some very unique talents and He has given me a GREAT love and light to share. Though the injury I sustained is still there, (Anal Fistula and Fissure) I can at least start working again.

This is what I do, or did:

I did the 3D artwork, graphic design and motion graphics for most of the major video game companies out there like: Microsoft, ATARI, NASCAR, Warner Brothers, Electronic Arts, SEGA, NAMCO and many more. I have also worked as a teacher, Art Director and even a medical illustrator. But now, my graphics come here to you on this blog. There is so much I want to share and visuals really help make the image clear.

I want to make this ministry grow. I want to turn this into something that will reach the world! I want to start video series, web-casts, and to publish the book I am writing, and posting online here on this blog.

So I am saving for a decent machine to help get the ball rolling

Something like this:

HP TouchSmart 620 3D series. $1,499.99!!!

It’s a lot of machine, but what I do graphics wise, brings most machines to their knees. So I need a machine with a backbone to carry the load… plus, I think it’s pretty darn cool.

With this, it will get my life fully back on track. I lost everything to the point of only owning the shirt on my back. LITTERALLY. And I even lost all the 22 years worth of my artwork I have generated over the years. All you see here and on my work website is all I was able to recover. But everything else has been lost.

Things like this don’t happen to good people unless God wants to prove something with that person’s life. The gift God has given me is so profound and important. You may not realize it yet, but I think I do. I see the vision and the message. But only in time, little by little, will it all coming to life. So please stay tuned and watch as the story unfolds. And thank you for reading my blog!

This was me: Blog post for “About Me”

  1. Love it and will be looking at your future messages. Sometimes we need to get knocked off our can, in order to understand what our “God” wants of us. He will give us what we need, when we need it, if we learn to trust! God Bless. Olivia

  2. Your art work is beautiful and truly AMAZING! I love the passion and zeal you express in your love for God and the desire you have wanting to use everything He’s given you for His glory. Keep it up, man! I’ll be praying for whatever needs you may have.

  3. Thank you for following Stella the Great Newfenees’ blog, Daniel. I’ve been cruising around yours for a couple of days – very interesting. I can really relate to your challenge of wanting to move ahead but lacking the necessities required and the means to obtain them.

I don’t know if you have come across George Mueller yet in your exploration of faith. I’ve found his example quite inspiring. He founded a Christian mission for orphans in Bristol in the 1800s. He saved and educated thousands of children without any means of his own other than faith. God heard his prayers and answered them as the needs arose. George never went into debt, either.

You should be able to obtain revised copies of his work at your local library or through inter-library loan, but here’s a link to one I found online (just the intro is avail to read, but should give you some background, etc.): http://books.google.ca/books?id=ajmVgTqAgS4C&printsec=frontcover&dq=george+mueller+answers+to+prayer&hl=en&sa=X&ei=e5gLT8i9COaLiAKX7On1Aw&ved=0CDUQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=george%20mueller%20answers%20to%20prayer&f=false

    God be with you.

  4. Hi Daniel, you’ve been visiting my blog lately Walking With Yahshua, and I wish to say THANK YOU.
Regarding your current situation, since my hubby and I have been in our walk with Yahshua about 50 collective years, we would like to humbly offer some experiential advice.

    1. When the door does not open, you are most likely knocking on the wrong door. Stop and listen to Father via His Holy Spirit. Ask for confirmation from 2 more places.

    2. When HE is doing a work in your life, it may be necessary for HIM to change your former career. HE often does this in order to do a better thing for you in the long run. We have experienced this ourselves. With my husband he gave up his chosen career which he loved — later finding out how much better it was for his spiritual life.

    3. When God puts you out in the country, there are many lessons which can only be learned there. City people are too “busy-busy”, and often tune out the Creator and the Creation. When God places you out in the country, what some people would call the wilderness, HE WANTS TO TALK TO YOU AND TEACH YOU.

    4. TOTAL SURRENDER IS YOUR BEST PLACE TO BE. CRY OUT FOR IT. HE WILL ANSWER THE PURE HEART EVERY TIME! Let go of all and focus on HIM.

Do not wish to offend you, but simply to offer a life-time of experience in a few words. May you hear HIS VOICE,
    Teresa

    1. You are very sweet, but no worries, I still hear Him. In fact this whole blog is dedicated to the lessons I hear from Him. You can not imagine the wonders and glory I see in my own life as a result of His gifts. I really don’t have any serious complaints. At the moment things could be worse. I am still happy and content and the Lord is working through me… I am saving up for a computer and when I get it other things will fall into place. It is all part of a plan. I just ride the waves till His plan is fully made known. But I do have a feeling I know where it is headed. But only time will tell.

Thank you so much for writing me. I do hope you will stick around and watch what is to come. There is lots of good coming from this, so no worries :) I LOVE GOD! :)

  5. Very impressive artwork! I will pray for you and your ministry, that you experience the LORD’s richest blessings as you seek and find His will. “Delight yourself in the LORD, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4. Thanks for recently following my blog, “In Touch With the Sky,” and I will be stopping by yours as well. Keep watch, as I am soon beginning a series of posts offering a stiff scientific and spiritual challenge to the Zeitgeist film.

  6. Wow. Your art is totally mindblowing! I love your blog ,too. I don’t have any way to assist you financially, disability doesn’t afford me much room to help others, but I will certainly pray for you every day. I know it’s tough to be in a position where it seems like everything is against you, and it’s easy to get down. But hang in there! I believe God cares about each and every aspect of our lives, and has only the best intentions for us! Thanks for sharing ! (Hugs) :)

  7. ….guess you know about guru.com. I did some work via them a while ago. Have you tried it?

God will provide if you trust in him … but as I can see through the life of Brother Yun (Heavenly Man), it’s not easy sometimes … but I suspect that the greatest miracles are kept for those in the greatest need. Pray without ceasing.

    Blessings.

    1. Guru.com is nice for the one looking for freelance help. NOT the one doing the freelancing. Services like that put downward pressure on wages such that you end up working for Philippino wages (which are peanuts and which someone from the Philippines for example would be content to get).

Nothing against the Philippines mind you.

It’s much, much better to strike out on one’s own and initiate contact with those who might need freelance services. The competition is very minimal. Usually it’s just you and no one else.

If you want to work for peanuts by all means there is guru.com, odesk.com, and a whole host of others where outsourced freelancing is the vogue. But if you want to make some decent money…go it on your own and start hitting the pavement or calling on the phone.

      Carlos

      1. Thanks man! I just still need a decent computer before I can venture to do such. Need the equipment to do the job. A carpenter can’t build a house without tools like; a saw or hammer. So praying that comes along some day soon.

        1. Daniel,

Have you considered praying for one? Adding to your prayers a way in which God might be able to provide one for you practically?

          What I mean is this…

The Lord provided me a laptop in exchange for computer web development work. A laptop which allowed me to pursue work from other clients.

You are obviously a highly talented graphic artist.

Get on craigslist and post an ad. You will exchange x amount of graphic work (either hours or x amount of finished tasks) in exchange for a computer with the specifications you need.

Then pray and ask the Lord to grant you favor in the eyes of someone that might need your work and has a computer laying around that they don’t need anymore or that is willing to buy you one in exchange for what you can give them.

I’ve also swapped a room for computer work too.

It works though it can require patience to wait until someone responds sometimes.

          Just something to consider Daniel.

          Carlos

  8. Wow—Your artwork is fantastic,& I can imagine your horrible frustration at not having a good computer to work with. You have had a lot of tough breaks. Although I like to think that those of us who are tested most are the ones who get the biggest reward in the end because we have the chance to grow & evolve, it sounds like it’s about time for you to get a decent break! I empathize with your financial situation, but at the present that’s all I can do.
What you are trying to do with this site is admirable, & I wish you luck with everything.

Thanks for subscribing to About Sketching.

  9. Hi Daniel – please add me on Facebook as a friend, then let’s set up a time to chat by phone. I’ll wait for you to add me on FB. God bless brother, the best is yet to come. Spider. = )

  10. Your work is great! Wish I could something to help but I am in one of those down-in-the-valley phases too. But I am working on a new blog and there are certain things I am trying to do graphically that I know are far beyond my skills. When things pick up around my house I will be in contact! If you want some idea of what I might need email me.

  11. Dan, so much to say – this resonates with my life, as well… that is, I’m in a similar situation. Something you have that I don’t, at least, are skills. I have no skills, and my work track record/resume is all over the place – I’ve been a million different things, including having gone back to school to try something else out/find where I belong.

The WORST that has happened to me is committing my life to and fully embracing someone in marriage who did not reciprocate. Instead, this person continued to just consume me to indulge their insecurities. I “sucked it up” for the sake of peace and marriage. But, this person’s aggression toward me got to the point where I couldn’t even focus on my job and had to choose: focus on the commitment to my job or focus on the commitment to my marriage.

Well, the idea is, “you only get married once,” so… 2 years later, thousands of dollars on therapy, books, moving, etc… still the same. Yet, now, if I leave, I’m homeless. I have no job and no one. At least you’re on good terms with your mother/family. I cannot say the same with my family.

But back to you, my friend, thanks for listening.. a “quick fix” that comes to mind, for now:

    http://fiverr.com/?utm_source=ge_sh&utm_medium=t000&utm_term=one-fiverr_%28exact%29&utm_content=c-000013&utm_campaign=bd_us&keyword=fiverr&matchype&gclid=cmnzpeo61awcfyhe4aodyhduqa

I’d like to help contribute some more ideas, but I don’t want to infringe and disrespect the efforts you have already made.

    1. My friend, this site is meant to embody the spirit of friendship and family. This is meant to be a “safe place” where you are amongst friends, and so long as people respect others, feel free to voice your opinion. But I hear you about your marriage. I too was in a similar position with my ex-wife. It is an unhappy and unhealthy place to be. But it will come down to the fact that GOD has to be number one in your life. This doesn’t mean become zealot and scare the neighbors and the cat with spewing off Bible versus and beating down the doors in your neighborhood with a Bible either. It is simply putting His tools of understanding into place in your life. Letting His word work through you and into the things you do and put your energies into. And this doesn’t necessarily mean mission work either. You can turn anything into an act of worship. Your whole life and inner peace is a HUGE form of praise and worship.

You seem like a very nice guy, and clearly you care and empathize with my situation. So, I am sure you do this with others as well. That means you are already in a kind of communion with God’s Holy Spirit. And that also means that you are on the right path to discovering what God wants from you and your life. The next thing is to assert and insert you into your world. Find out what you believe and what you want and then be bold enough to ask for it. Learn how to be what you want/need to be for you and for God. Unfortunately, it sounds like you are an enabler. You enable you spouse to make you miserable, and by doing so, also herself. Remember most women (Or people) don’t respect a man who doesn’t respect himself. You need to have a purpose and goal to be respected, otherwise you are motion without meaning; like a ship without a rudder, going nowhere and bouncing along the waves of disillusionment. Maybe, little by little try asserting your needs, despite the consequences of her reaction, so you can discover who you really are. I mean be respectful, but as my father would say “Man-up” a little and instead of being a “Macho man” jerk, be a Man of God.

I am reminded of Romans 8:31-37
31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.34 Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?36 As it is written:
      ” For Your sake we are killed all day long;
We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”
37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God will give you what you need. Don’t worry about that. It may not be what you always want, but it will be what YOU NEED. The key here is verse 32.

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?

If we mirror God, we too must be willing to make a spectacular sacrifice of the things we love. Sometimes to gain something you have to let that something go. Or at least be willing to let it go if it wants to leave on its own. Your wife or your job? There should not have to be such a choice, but sometimes things happen. It is up to you to decide where you most think God can use you. Ideally your wife is the HIGHEST priority.

1 Corinthians 7:3 Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband.

But she should also see that you are HER highest priority, and that you are also a man of principal and do not wish to hurt her.

Galatians 5:23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

But you also must be about your Father’s “business”.

Luke 2:49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

Again, find out what it is that YOU need and then bring it to the Lord to judge and balance where your heart lies and where your energies are best spent. Make room for you, so love will have room to grow. If she controls everything then your love is already being constricted and your spirit is having the life choked out of it. Learn to spread your wings and soar, but also don’t defile your nest… I hope this helps.

Please also read: 1 Corinthians 7:10-12

      With much brotherly love,
      Daniel Lyons

  12. Well Dan I shall be praying for you. God will meet you but in my experience it is usually in the way we least expect it. So keep a waaaay open mind about things. I look forward to reading your work. Thanks for following “Reinventing the We’ll”. Hope it will meet a need!

    1. Well, sort of good news. We all know that times have been REALLY hard for me these last 3 years, with my incarceration, divorce, and EXTREMELY painful injury… and I do know this is all for the better on some cosmic level. Suffering makes hope rise and purifies with the fires of perdition. I mean I can see the hand of God moving in my life and ministry. He is transforming my spirit on a daily basis and this ministry is growing. I have had from 500-1000 hits on my site each day for the last several days in a row, and that is fantastic!!! So praise God in the highest for that. But that really is not enough. That many hits means only about a 1/3rd of those hits are actual people visiting my site… and the majority of them are focusing on my personal story and NOT on the rest of the message. People, please read the other posts! My life may be interesting, but it is the message that is most important!

He has been working THROUGH me not just on me. So please spread the word to come and share a part of scriptures that has been missing for years!

Anyhow the semi-good news is that I was offered a job today! It’s 15hrs a day, 7 days a week, for 2 weeks at @ $2.80 per hour….. I kinda’ wanna’ cry now, for the first time in 3 years… this is the most I have made since this has all happened to me. $500 dollars for 211 hours of work… And that is more money than I have made in 3 years combined. I used to make that much, almost daily. Please, please… God is doing this for some reason. This is the best offer I have been given. I am about to lose my car, and I will probably be homeless soon. What more can He take from me? I am a good man and I know all of this is for THIS MINISTRY to grow. THERE IS A REASON FOR THIS… So please spread the word, pray and read! There is so much more I have not shared on this blog. Amazing things God has shared with me alone… and I so desperately want to share it all with you. So pray I can keep this blog rolling and that good comes from all this.

With great love for you all,
      Daniel Lyons.

      1. By the way… didn’t get the job. Seems after I worked for 4 hours for free “Ta’ learn how ta’ do that’ job”, I found out they gave the job away to some other guy that they “PROMISED” IT TO BEFORE I EVEN CAME IN TO APPLY!!!

Funny thing is the other guy didn’t show up and they tried calling on me to help out at the last minute…. but offered me $2.33 per hour to work the 15 hours day instead of the $2.80 they offered me before!…. BZZZZT, WRONG ANSWER!

Sorry, but they were on their own.

Job 4:8 Even as I have seen, Those who plow iniquity And sow trouble reap the same.
